Sandy

Egyptian Sandfish

Acquired in June 2006

Egypt (N.E Africa)

I love the way he can simply just disappear and swim through sand.

Gotta love his grill marks !!

Sandy, (what else could we have called him?) the Sandfish.

I was always in awe of this little lizard and the first time I saw him was while watching Jeff Corwin, and I thought...man that's a cool little lizard, we have got to find one of those !

The Sandfish (Scincus scincus) is a species of skink that burrows into the sand. It has trademark stripes on its back that make it look like it had a close encounter with a barbeque, or as I would say.. Did ya get to close to the Barbie mate !!

This is rarely seen in pet stores. It is called a sandfish because of its ability to move through sand very fast.., as if it were swimming.
